Welcome To My Home Page
Hi, I'm Erin, and welcome to "Horse racing As I See It." (if you have a better title, let me know! lol) Take your time, look around, and enjoy. This site is frequenly updated with horse racing news and little tidbits that everyone can enjoy. Come back often, I'm always changing and adding stuff!
Latest Racing News
Eclipse Awards have come and gone. Here are the winners with my comments:

HORSE OF THE YEAR- POINT GIVEN! Yay, I think he totally deserved this, I really liked him a lot, even though I didn't always like his trainer. How can you go wrong with four consecutive Grade I wins? You can't!
OLDER HORSE- TIZNOW. I didn't always like him, but it's pretty spectacular to win the BC Classic twice in a row. He really has a lot of stamina and grit, if you look at the win picture:-)
Three year Old Filly- Xtra Heat. She's such a cutie, and 9 out of 13 wins is amazing! Hats off to the filly!
Three Year Old Colt- Point Given. Enough said.
Sprinter- Squritle Squirt. Ridiculous name, but he did show turn of foot in the BC Sprint.
Two Year Old Colt- Johannesburg. He WAS pretty good...but I still like Officer;-)
Two Year Old Filly- Tempera. I think she'll do some nice things this year.
Turf Male- Fantastic Light. He was clearly the best choice.
Turf Female- Banks Hill. But is this category really necessary?
Steeplechaser- Pompeii. Poor horse, he's dead.

Stay tuned, as I hope to update more frequently, starting now!

Road to the Triple Crown
Another year, another chance at Triple Crown glory. Aren't you excited? Here's my newly revised list of my picks for the Kentucky Derby, in no particular order:

Nokoma- Todd Pletcher trainee, recently won an allowance race in a nice time over a sloppy track. He's headed for the Louisiana Derby on March 10th, so stay tuned, he may just surprise you!
Harlan's Holliday- Has been second to Booklet in his last two races, including the Holy Bull Stakes, but they'll be going for 1 1/16 mile next time, and I think he'll be able to overtake Booklet, seeing as how he;s much smaller than Harlan.
Repent- Would I be a fool if I didn't put him here? I don't know, 'cuz I haven't watched him race. My fear for him is that he'll be too burned out from a lot of racing to do much good in the Triple Crown.
Siphonic- There were rumors that he had been sick, but he disspelled those with a nice workout recently. I don't really xpect him to win, but he'll probably finish strongly if he runs.
Came Home- Nice colt, very cute, who has been proving everyone wrong. Sure, we all thought he could only be a sprinter, but he's survived two turns, and he's really on his way, making a name for himself.
Johannesburg- Still training in Ireland and has yet to make his three-year-old debut. Odd, seeing as how he's the early favorite, but his trainers may be on to something by giving him a good rest...something Bob Baffert should learn (hint hint: Officer!)

The monthly "As I See It Award"!
You know what, I'm really bored, so I thought I'd update this part of the site and award the "As I See It Award" to Officer, the little colt who can. I still love him, even if he probably won't race in the TC, beacuase the Derby, Preakness, and Belmont are not the only races in the world. Anyway, I just hope that he doesn't become depressed because of all the people who make of him, lol...

Sadly...
Seattle Slew is out of stud duty indefinately. he was showing symptoms of back problems, and recently underwent surgery. He came through with flying colors and is back home. I sort of hope that they give him pension now; he's earned it.

Champion Steeplechaser, Lonesome Glory, passed away after being injured in a paddock accident. He was the first American horse to win in England over fences, and he won five Eclipse Awards.

This is Coral
She's my little guardian Unicorn for right now. She doesn't want you to take any ideas from this site. Otherwise, enjoy! I got her from the Unicorn Friendship Center.(www.cottagegroup.com/unicorn2/unicorns07.html)
